This Painting is called “Roots". This painting was inspired by African American history. It displays the beauty in pain, the Joy in sorrow, and the hope of tomorrow. It represents the painful history of my ancestors and the current effect we as a people have on Society as a result of our past. The face of the woman is a representation of us as a people and the flag represents America.

The flag is made to be blood and the women’s tears are made to be blood to represent the innocent blood that was shed from genocide. It's the blood of the people crying out from the ground and how the blood shed on this soil is interwoven into the fabric of this ration. The tree is a reflection of our story and the roots that springs forth. There is beauty in the pain. And the words dispayed shows the triumph and the tenacity of a people who have been through the most, but somehow manages to rise above it all and lead in every area with strength and power.

My Story

Shamaiah In Color

Shamaiah began creating art at the age of four, discovering early on the power of creativity as both expression and healing. Over the years, her work has become a profound means of transforming grief, loss, and trauma into hope and resilience. Through every brushstroke, she seeks to communicate the possibility of renewal and the strength found in vulnerability. Shamaiah’s art serves as a reminder that persistence and passion can turn dreams into reality. By supporting her journey, you also invest in the inspiration and empowerment of others who dare to pursue their own creative paths.
